Steep and rocky at the beginning, this trail eventually tapers off to a narrow dirt path leading to picnic tables in a clearing and views of the ocean through the trees.
But the best is yet to come: continue on as the trail becomes steep and rocky again then suddenly opens to gorgeous 360-degree views at the top, showing why this hike is one of Kauai’s most popular with both visitors and locals.
To the east, you will see the ocean and Wailua River; to the west Mount Waialeale and the Makaleha mountain range, to the north the Anahola mountains.
If you want more of a challenge, try running up the trail as some residents do. It’ll get your heart pumping.
Please be advised that this trail is recommended for those who are physically healthy.
