You’d never believe it from the outside, but in this dilapidated green plantation building just before you get into Hanapepe Town is an old-time taro chip factory that makes some of the best taro and sweet potato chips around.
Shoichi and Shizuko Nagamine, lehua taro farmers, started the business in 1985, using taro they grew on their 10-acre farm in Hanapepe Valley.
Today, their son, Dale, runs the business, which has turned into one of the best-kept secrets on Kauai.
