As the former home to The Champions Skins Game from 2001-2007, the Wailea Gold Course was designed by architect Robert Trent Jones II as a “thinking player’s course.”
Golfers are truly tested on each hole as they weigh risk and reward with every shot, and while club selection is a difficult endeavor, focusing on the golf ball and not the beautiful views that Maui offers up can also prove problematic.
Case in point, the Gold Course’s No. 8 features a beautiful par-3 layout with a picturesque view of the ocean with the crescent-shaped Molokini Island in the background. One must navigate over a rock wall and around numerous bunkers and coconut trees in order to score well on this gem.
