A three-week, juried art exhibition based around Earth Day in April each year, the Art of Trash show features creations made by Maui artists entirely from garbage.
Founders Malama Maui Nui and Sharing Aloha, local nonprofits devoted to recycling and sustainability, created the show to raise awareness about litter and the importance of keeping waste out of the landfill.
But children and art lovers of all ages will enjoy seeing whimsical and thought-provoking works assembled from empty bottles, car parts, old wires, and other unconventional materials.
Opening ceremonies include a “Trashion Show” featuring garments made from repurposed materials, as well as entertainment by the Trash Band.
