The paved paths and picnic sites make Lyon Arboretum a wonderful garden for families with toddlers.
One path takes visitors to a koi pond and gazebo, and another leads down the hill to a spice garden.
In the center of the arboretum is a traditional Hawaiian hale, thatched with loulu fronds beside a mala (dry land taro patch).
Gentle showers often bring rainbows that stretch from one side of the valley to the next.
Visitors are encouraged to make a $5 donation at the visitors' center.
