For a peaceful meditation retreat, look no further than the Still & Moving Center in Honolulu’s Kakaako neighborhood. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays the center offers self-guided meditation hours in a quiet space to free your mind of the world’s constant distractions. Just leave your cell phone in the locker room!
Still & Moving Center also has a variety of stimulating yoga classes from beginner classes to hatha, astanga, yin, restorative, and more. (The center also has a vinyasa class taught in Japanese.) But the most unique yoga class is the center’s aerial yoga. Just like the name implies, practitioners are suspended, hanging from silk hammocks attached to the ceiling. Like other forms of yoga, the aerial version provides optimal alignment and tension relief.
If dancing is how you relax, get your groove on; the center offers nia—cardio-dance workout—hula, Tahitian, Bollywood, ballet barre and Afro-Latin.
