Pan-Pacific Festival

This annual cultural festival features a street festival, cultural activities, food and more.

The name says it all: the Pan-Pacific is about spanning the Pacific Ocean with culture, food, and fun.

The festivities take over several blocks along Kalakaua Avenue in the heart of Waikiki. There’s a hoolaulea (street festival) with assorted food and live music, plus cultural performances like Japanese taiko drumming and Chinese lion dance. The annual Pan-Pacific Hula Festival runs concurrently on the hula mound at Kuhio Beach.

Conceived as a Hawaiian take on the Japanese matsuri (festival), the event has expanded to include Chinese, Korean, and Filipino influences. The mission, though, is the same: diversity, understanding, and friendship.
