The island — and the state — is now getting the reputation for quality craft brews that it deserves.
In the rapidly transforming neighborhood of Kakaako, one such brewpub is a must visit, Honolulu Beerworks. Inside a nondescript reconverted warehouse is a beer connaisseur’s paradise.
It’s where owner Geoffrey Seideman and his staff brew 10 beers on tap, as well as limited editions.
Crowd favorites are the Pia Mahiai saison, made with locally grown oranges, tangerines, lemons, limes, lemongrass and Big Island honey and the bold Sheltered Bay IPA.
Honolulu Beerworks’ food items are the perfect beer companions: Bavarian soft pretzels served with beer cheese fondue made with the brewpub’s Point Panic Pale Ale, or the ahi dip with baguette slices. Honolulu Beerworks also has growlers available to go.
