When it comes to acai bowls on Oahu, Da Cove Health Bar — first named the Diamond Head Cove Health Bar — is one of the originals.
The cozy cafe has been serving heaping bowls to stoked surfers, hungry hikers and voracious vacationers since it opened in 2003.
There’s acai for every appetite.
Order the small size Da Cove, with bananas, strawberries, granola and honey, if you just want something to snack on.
But if you’re looking for a meal-size acai bowl, opt for the Hawaiian Bowl. This deluxe bowl not only comes with the standard bananas, strawberries, granola and honey, but has added sweet bee pollen and a serving of paiai (undiluted poi). As they say in Hawaii, it’s “broke da mouth,” or absolutely delicious!
Da Cove also serves up sandwiches and wraps, fresh fish and is one of the only Oahu establishments with the traditional Hawaiian drink, awa on its menu.
One of the best times to stop in is during its live music nights, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 10 p.m.
