Some of its shirts are created with specialty dyes made from wine, chocolate, Kona Coffee, beer, volcanic ash, hemp, money (real money!) and hibiscus.
Crazy Shirts also holds the exclusive license for Kliban Cat designs, including the Hula Cat swaying its hips in a grass hula skirt and lei, Aloha Cat (who wears an aloha shirt, with open arms), and Sumo Cat, who is dressed in traditional sumo attire. One line of Crazy Shirts clothing is designed by the marine life artist Wyland.
The shop has lots of other Hawaii-themed items to choose from besides T-shirts, though. There are jackets, other clothing, swim gear, and trinkets such as stuffed animals, water bottles and key chains.
Crazy Shirts has two locations in Kona, both on Alii Drive, which is the main road that runs along the ocean. One is in the heart of town, across from the Kona Inn Shopping Village and next to Hulihee Palace and Mokuaikaua Church; the other is further down the road at Kona Waterfront Row.
Both locations are open 7 days a week, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
